India is home to the largest illiterate population in the world. At least 35 million children are uneducated due to failing schools, high drop out rates, and parents’ inability to afford uniforms and textbooks. I’m going to change that!
Many of us take education for granted. We dragged our feet to the bus stop as children and moved up through the grades because we had to.
But for many children in India, going to school is their greatest dream. The opportunity to learn English and study to become a teacher, doctor, or entrepreneur is their one-way ticket out of poverty. Unfortunately, over 35 million in India remain uneducated due to failing schools, high drop out rates, and parents’ inability to afford uniforms and textbooks. It doesn’t have to continue like this. There are simple solutions like accessible schools with free tuition, lunches, and medical care for impoverished students in slums and rural villages.
I started this fundraising campaign to help Calcutta Mercy fund these education projects, and I am looking for people to join me in making a big difference. Please donate to my campaign. Every dollar counts!
